Climate
The Torrevieja area is renowned for its healthy climate and is recommended by the World Health Organisation for sufferers of rheumatism, arthritis and asthma, due to the dry micro-climate created by two large salt water lakes nearby
Cost of Living
The cost of living in Spain is much lower than in the UK, particularly for food – both buying from the local shops and eating out. You will find many restaurants charging very reasonably for family meals, which can vary from Spanish, Chinese, Indian, English etc.
Travel
Daily flights are available by from main UK airports to Alicante (& Murcia) including Newcastle, DTV(Teesside), Leeds/Bradford,Gatwick,Heathrow, Stansted and Luton. You will have a large choice of car hire at the airport from local and international firms. Ask the owners for more information – discounts are available
Medical Facilities
A brand new hospital has been constructed within three miles of VillaMartin – ask the owners for further information on this and doctors, dentists, pharmacies etc. As a European Union nation, Spain operates a mutual arrangement to treat patients of other EU countries. Please check your insurance policy to ensure repayment of any costs; don’t forget your E111 (and a copy)
